C.S. Lewis ( - )
As someone else has already said, whatever this version or specific seller this is looks like garbage and looks like it was printed and bound by somebody in their basement after printing out the text file from a torrent. There's no publisher info, at all. I wish I would have looked at this more closely as soon as I got it, as it stands now it's likely too late.
Go download this classic somewhere else. I did not realize this was a 'print on demand' version when I ordered The book is horribly formatted: There is no variation in font or type size to distinguish between sections I have included a couple of photos to illustrate what I am complaining about. This shabbiness has rendered a classic unreadable.
C. S. Lewis
It is difficult to limit my excitement about this classic work by C. I first read the book while in college and now I am taking several fellows through the book in a small group setting.
It is a timeless classic that is as true today as when it was originally penned by Lewis as a series of talks given in London over the BBC during the challenging days of WW2. One must remember the historical setting when they read through the work.
Because this is a compilation of a series of talks, Lewis did not assume that the people who heard his first series of lectures necessarily heard the lectures in the second series. As a result, one might think he is mildly repetitive. As you work through this great book take some time to digest the material in each chapter and reflect upon the material that Lewis covers and the thoroughness of his argument and perspectives.

The book is a chronology of the thinking processes Lewis went through as his spiritual journey traveled from atheism and reluctantly to Theism and ultimately to Christianity. It is amazingly refreshing and valid for any reader. One thing I have discovered about Lewis is that he typically packs more into one sentence than most authors do in a paragraph.
I cannot recommend this work high enough. Sentences stop after a few words and are continued on the next line.
Extremely disappointed. The content of the book is great. Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is.
After all, you find out the strength of the German army by fighting against it, not by giving in. You find out the strength of a wind by trying to walk against it, not by lying down. A man who gives in to temptation after five minutes simply does not know what it would have been like an hour later. That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness. They have lived a sheltered life by always giving in.
We never find out the strength of the evil impulse inside us until we try to fight it: and Christ, because He was the only man who never yielded to temptation, is also the only man who knows to the full what temptation means -the only complete realist. Book 3, Chapter 21 Advertisements. Now it appears that the audio world will follow suit. The good news is that having them at all, and read by such a good voice as Ralph Cosham's, is wonderful. The bad news is that there is indeed overlap.
(audio) book review: Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis (read by Geoffrey Howard)
This new series, of which "The Art of Writing If you do nothing but collect this series, you will be in great shape. There will be no overlap and you will have collected the lion's share heh of Lewis's essays.
