What I could not live with was never putting him onto the page. Writing is tough. I'm not a terribly emotional person, and I've never been interested in spending time wallowing in my weaknesses. I just wanted a shot at writing the books, not for the money, but because I just wanted to be in the world.

There was a lot of pressure on me at that moment. I'd been let go from my first publisher, I had left my job in healthcare, I had moved away from New England where I had been born and bred. I literally had nothing to lose, and I think that's the reason I was able to throw out all convention and write Wrath and Beth in as honest a way I could. Back when I was first getting started in the business, the goal was to be published in single title, as opposed to being in a line think Special Edition, Desire, Presents, etc.

I had been in single title with my first four books right out of the gate, but they hadn't sold well enough which was why I'd been let go. I did get that contract for Wrath's book and two others in the BDB world, but I was concerned about having a career, and I really thought the Brothers were going to be too out there for the market. So I contracted for some Silhouettes. I can remember this other writer looking down her nose at me, telling people behind my back that I was going backwards and was just going to flame out.

On my end, I was just so grateful for the work. I loved writing my Silhouettes because I was reader of them, I had a great editor, and I'm still proud of those books- oh, and I didn't write them any differently than I did my longer ones. I guess my point is this. Betting on yourself is terrifying. Or at least I've found it so.

Lover Eternal

I really like Rhage. He stood out from the rest of the Brotherhood in book one, and I was excited to see his story come so soon in the series.

He's a cursed vampire - cursed with an uncontrollable beast that is triggered by extreme emotions paid, anger, lust. And once the beast is released, he only goes away after destroying and eating - ew everything around it.

As a human, Mary is a bit shocked when she is dragged into the vampire world through a young man that she meets when he calls the Suicide Hotline she volunteers at.

This boy is something special, and I have some strong suspicions he's a result of something from the first book, but I didn't find out and I think I may be waiting awhile for his story. But he plays a fairly prominent role in Lover Eternal and makes a great character.

Anyway, Mary, she's an interesting study in opposites. She's a strong woman, but her illness makes her weak. She's incredibly intelligent, but she finds herself immersed in a world where she has everything to learn.

Her and Rhage have an interesting start to their relationship as he is ordered to erase himself from her mind. But there is something about the way she speaks that Rhage needs to have. I love that something so simple as the sound of her voice is what initially draws him to her, not her looks, or having to rescue her, it was a great way to make their start different than what I usually see out there.

We get to see a lot of the Brotherhood and a few of the characters from book one still pop up and I love being able to see the whole group in both books. The Lessers are still on the hunt and looking for a fight and we are introduced to a new civilian, Bella, that a friend of Mary's that seems to have more of her story to tell. A great second book, but I feel the Mary and Rhage's solution was a little contrived.

It felt like Ward had written herself into a corner and used the "but then the rules changed" option instead of playing within what she had already written. This book is the second of a series of many enthusiastic, awe inspiring novels. This book had me figuratively on the edge of my seat only because I read it horizontally and gripping my phone so hard my knuckles were white.

I have enjoyed this series immensely thus far and as I continue on and read the next in this thrilling series I know, do not hope, know that my experience will continue on throughout the rest of the novels.

Lacharite on June 4, Well-done story, funny, passionate and built with a great sense of continuity. Need to read them all!

The more I read the more I get sucked in. Its raw and sexy and mysterious and at times makes me cry I love it … Show more Show less.

The problem is that Ward often sounds like a middle-aged woman trying to be cool when the characters are supposed to be young women, professional people, fantasy folks or century-old vampires.

What is Kobo Super Points?

The progression of her disease was such a tear jerker! Now coming from me that's saying something because i never cry reading books or watching movies that REALLY rarely happens. That is what the power of thought can do.

Need to read them all!

I want to hear your voice. But the end! The Undoing.
