On the other hand, much of the 'causal knowledge' stuff doesn't really seem practical in everyday life. Now, I'm all for learning and having a broad knowledge-base, but my brain doesn't always cooperate with me, and most of the time it feels like new info coming in pushes other info out.

Do I need to know how a toilet works? I'm sure it's useful if I need to fix one, but in my day-job, it's not going to help me.
