There is a lot of good stuff in here, regarding tips for being more focused on learning new things, recapping them to yourself, taking overview notes, teaching yourself what you're learning, and learning to think abstractly and analogously about problems, all of which I found useful and will work into my life in varying degrees based on how relevant they are to me.
On the other hand, much of the 'causal knowledge' stuff doesn't really seem practical in everyday life. Now, I'm all for learning and having a broad knowledge-base, but my brain doesn't always cooperate with me, and most of the time it feels like new info coming in pushes other info out.
Do I need to know how a toilet works? I'm sure it's useful if I need to fix one, but in my day-job, it's not going to help me.
